New MV for "Zombieland Saga" Single Released, Fran Shushu Back in Action
The original anime series "Zombieland Saga" (ゾンビランドサガ リベンジ) has made a comeback after two years with a brand new single titled "すきっちゃん!からチュッ" (I Really Like You! Karatsu, Give Me a Kiss), which was officially released on December 3. Alongside the single, the music video (MV) has also been unveiled, featuring the idol group "Fran Shushu" once again promoting the city of Karatsu in Saga Prefecture.
This catchy tune was commissioned by the Karatsu City government, and the MV showcases various famous spots around Karatsu, including Mt. Kagamiyama, Karatsu Castle, and Hado Cape, all of which are mentioned in the lyrics. The video also highlights local specialties like "Yobuko Squid" and "Karatsu Q-saba" (mackerel), providing a delightful taste of Karatsu's unique charm. The members of Fran Shushu look adorable as they sing and dance in these real-life settings, with the final scene featuring Sakura, one of the characters, playfully blowing a kiss to the camera.
Celebrating Local Culture and Tourism
The single's cover art is based on the visual for the "Revenge KARACHU♡Karatsu♡Travel Campaign," a collaborative tourism event that took place on November 22 in Karatsu. This event is set to run from December 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, further promoting the city's attractions.
Since its premiere in October 2018, "Zombieland Saga," produced by MAPPA with music from Avex Pictures and released by Cygames, has captivated audiences with its unique story about seven girls who died in different eras and formed the idol group "Fran Shushu" to revitalize Saga Prefecture. The series has aired two seasons, concluding in 2021, and despite a lack of recent updates regarding a theatrical release, the show's innovative themes, passionate voice acting, and the endearing contrast of cute girls and zombie horror elements keep fans engaged.
Engaging Fans Through Social Media
To celebrate the release of the new song, the official social media channels have launched exciting activities for fans. Participants can join a lottery by sharing the "すきっちゃん!からチュッ" MV link on TikTok, Instagram, or X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by the hashtag "#KARACHU." This initiative offers fans a chance to win exclusive original coasters, fostering community engagement and excitement around the release.
Looking Ahead: Future Collaborations
As "Zombieland Saga" continues to thrive, there are speculations about potential future collaborations that may further highlight the cultural heritage of Saga Prefecture. Fans are eager to see how the series can continue to integrate local attractions and specialties into its narrative, potentially paving the way for more tourism-focused projects.
The Impact of Anime on Regional Tourism
The influence of anime on local tourism is becoming increasingly significant, as seen with the success of "Zombieland Saga." The series not only promotes its characters and storylines but also serves as a vibrant advertisement for the regions it represents. This trend highlights the potential for other anime to similarly boost tourism and local economies, encouraging a deeper connection between fans and the locations that inspire their favorite shows.
