Monster Hunter Wilds to Feature Full Chinese Voice Acting and Major Weapon Adjustments
The highly anticipated action RPG, Monster Hunter Wilds, is just three months away from its release, and fans are buzzing with excitement. Following feedback from the beta version, where many players found the weapon dynamics lacking, Capcom has confirmed significant adjustments will be made to all weapons in the final release. These changes will introduce a more comprehensive range of unique features for each weapon, enhancing gameplay variety. Additionally, the game will offer complete Chinese voice acting through an online update post-launch.
Dynamic Weapon Switching and Skills
In Monster Hunter Wilds, players can carry two weapons into battle, allowing for seamless switching during combat. Each of the 14 weapon types comes with distinct attack skills that activate automatically upon switching, giving players the freedom to customize their combat style through various decorations. However, during the beta test in November, many players noted some weapons felt unbalanced—particularly the heavy bowgun and bow, which performed exceptionally well, while the insect glaive and dual blades seemed underwhelming in damage output, leading to their limited use.
Significant Changes Ahead
According to a recent Japanese trailer released, the development team has acknowledged these concerns and promised "very significant changes" to weapon performance in the final version. The producer, Yuya Tokuda, indicated that virtually all weapons will undergo modifications to enhance their effectiveness and appeal. "For instance, issues like speed and fluidity of movement will be improved. Mechanisms that couldn't be implemented in the beta, such as the insect glaive's dance jump, will be included in the final game," he stated.
New Features and Endgame Content
Moreover, the game will introduce elemental effects and endgame content, further reducing the power gap between weapons and showcasing their unique strengths. Tokuda emphasized that many weapons will receive new skills and motions, but the primary focus remains on enhancing the usability of existing actions. The team aims to refine functionalities that haven’t been fully utilized, ensuring a smoother integration into combat scenarios.
Community Interaction and Gameplay Dynamics
Other highlights from recent interviews include the addition of a hundred-player hub where players can chat and interact, although most regular quests will still be designed for four-player teams. The game also features monsters that exhibit different combat behaviors and traits based on the climate. For instance, the Thunder Dragon will accumulate electric energy differently in abnormal versus normal weather conditions, adapting its fighting style to environmental factors.
Innovative Monster Design
Monster Hunter Wilds introduces a variety of new monsters with designs that significantly diverge from the series' traditional aesthetics. A notable example is the "Black Flame," which appears as a tentacled creature, resembling aspects from soul-like games. The development team explained that these designs are influenced by the monsters' survival environments, and recent technical advancements allow for interactive tentacles and terrain, making these elements a natural fit in the game.
Seamless Environment Experience
The game aims to deliver a seamless experience across diverse environments, featuring monsters that carry unique hunting rewards. These monsters are intricately linked to the game's endgame content, enticing players to continually challenge themselves. The team assures that the endgame offerings in Monster Hunter Wilds will be highly satisfying for all players.
Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch on February 28, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Pre-orders are currently open, and players can check the official website for platform-specific bonuses.
